If you have a cat that loves to scratch at the door in the early hours of the morning then this type of behavior can become very frustrating if it occurs every morning. If you have a cat that starts scratching at the door wanting to get out to go into another room then this can also be annoying if it is a continuous thing. This might not be acceptable in some households as continuous use of this behavior can cause damage to the door. If your cat starts behaving in a way that you don’t like then you need to address it as soon as it occurs.
How To Stop Bad Behavior
You need to start disciplining your cat as soon as this type of behavior begins. You should not let the behavior go unnoticed because if you don’t address it in the very early stages then it will be harder to address it two months down the road.
Cats can sometimes behave like naughty children. They are also very stubborn and can be very resistant to changing their behavior. If your cat starts scraping at the door or scratching at the door in the early hours of the morning here are some things you can do to address the problem.
Use A Water Pistol
This is probably one of the more easier things that you can do. For some reason cats do not like water so if you have a water pistol and leave it in the hall when your cat starts to scratch the door give them a spray of the water pistol.
Use a Toy
Another way to stop your cat doing something that you don’t want it to do is to use distraction. If your cats loves to play with toys then when they start scratching the door throw the toy at them and try to get them to play with this instead.
