Outdoor cats get to go for rambles during the night and sleep inside during the day. Indoor cats don’t go outside but they do follow a similar pattern where they sleep all day and love being active at night. However they cannot ramble too far from the house, mostly likely just from the kitchen to the sitting room.

So it's up to pet owners to come up with ways to keep their cat entertained to reduce any chance of boredom and any opportunities for naughty behavior.

One thing besides toys that can help to keep your cat entertained is a cat hammock window seat. This seat has a flat base that is attached to your window with suction cups and held together with wire. There are a few varieties of window seats on the market and each is designed for different types of cats.

There are three parts to the window seat, the suction cups, the wire that connects to the suction cups and the seating area. You have to wet the suction cups with warm water before applying them to a clean window surface otherwise they won’t stick.

Advantages

  • Most window seats are designed to hold a cat up to 8kg.
  • They can be placed on any type of window in any room and the suction cups will remain in place until you need to remove the cat hammock seat for cleaning.
  • Your cat gets to feel like it is outdoors and see everything that is happening in your neighborhood.
  • Also if you have lots of trees outside your house then your cat will love watching the birds flying around outside.
  • The window seats are pretty sturdy and they won’t move when your cat jumps up and down from them. So once they are securely attached to the window there shouldn’t be any issues.
  • It’s easy to disassemble the cat seat by removing all the parts.
  • These cat seats don’t require any glue or screws to put them together.
  • The cloth for the bed area is removable so it's easier to clean it.
  • You can buy suction cups separately for the cat hammock window seat.

Disadvantages

  • Every window seat will vary in size so you need to know the measurements of your window before you purchase any brand.
  • Before you place the suction pads onto your window you need to clean the window. If there's any kind of residue on the window, the suction pads won’t stick to it.
  • If you live in a hot area, you might need to place the hammock window seat in an area that doesn’t get too much sun as your cat might get heat stroke if they are sitting on this hammock all day in the sun.
  • These cat window seats are designed to be placed indoors, not outside as the weather will damage the material.
  • Some brands might not have very good assembly instructions included.
